f Aug 18 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Renee Gork, who is a radio personality in the state of Arkansas, Tweeted on Monday that she had been fired from her job because she wore a Florida Gators hat to an Arkansas Hogs news conference.

Radio station KAKS, which calls itself “Hog Sports Radio”, in northwest Arkansas apparently fired Gork after she wore the Gators hat to the news conference with the football coach for the Arkansas team, Bobby Petrino.

The Arkansas Hogs lost to the Florida Gators 23-20 in Florida last season, and it seemed as though there may be hard feelings. While Gork was asking questions of the coach, he commented, “And that will be the last question I answer with that hat on.”

Gork explained that she grabbed the hat without thinking, because it was raining outside as she left for work that day. She sent a letter to the University as well as to Petrino, apologizing for the offense. She also Tweeted, “Was hoping to publicly apologize to coach Petrino and UA fans on the show today … but I won’t get that chance. I’ve been fired.” She sent the Tweet on the KAKS Twitter account.

The manager of KAKS, Dan Storrs, gave a telephone interview to ‘The Associated Press’ and confirmed that Gork no longer works for the station, but refused to comment as to why, saying that the matter was personal. He added, “This radio station is Hog Sports Radio. We are very biased. We support the Razorbacks 100 percent.”
