Aretha Franklin laughs off surgery rumours
March 14th, 2011 - 6:37 am ICT by IANSLos Angeles, March 14 (IANS) Singing legend Aretha Franklin has denied rumours that she underwent gastric bypass surgery in December last year, calling it crazy.
The “Queen of Soul” had a health scare when she was hospitalised in 2010, following which she had cancelled her concerts.
The singer recently shed 85 pounds of body fat, which sparked off speculations that she underwent gastric surgery. But she denies it and chose to stay mum over the specific procedure that helped her shun so much weight, reports aceshowbiz.com.
She admitted that the excess pounds came off “from the surgery that I had”.
“But it definitely was not the bariatric or, what is it, gastric by…Yeah, I can’t even tell you the correct name of it. It’s really not necessary to talk about one’s personal medical (health),” she added.
