Arctic Monkeys going for heavier sound in new albumJuly 29th, 2008 - 1:58 pm ICT by IANS
London, July 29 (IANS) British rock band Arctic Monkeys are working on their third album and are opting for a heavier sound. Thesun.co.uk reports that the band’s drummer Matt Helders says they have been influenced by the US band Queens Of The Stone Age and that this will be their heaviest sounding album.
Helders said: “Not ‘heavy metal’ heavy - just more aggressive. We’re all into Queens Of The Stone Age. When we got to play with them and see them live it gave us a kick up the a***. They are an inspiration, they show you can still have top tunes and loud, heavy songs, too. It’s a lot more fun playing loud music - simple as that.”
Helders added that there will be longer drum solos. “I’ve been trying to think of beats I can do to start the record off. Of course I want to start off the album with drums - it’s an ego thing!”
