Apprentice Star Christopher Farrell Avoids Jail
January 29th, 2011 - 12:51 am ICT by Angela Kaye MasonJan 28 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Christopher Farrell, one of the contestants from the television reality show“The Apprentice”, has received a suspended sentence on the charges of fraud which he received after allegedly trying to steal money from lenders by falsifying the applications of his customers so that they would be more likely to get larger amounts of money.
Farrell, who is a former Royal Marine, would supposedly claim that applicants had larger salaries, and even forge documents to make getting a mortgage for them a done deal. In turn, he was given many sales bonuses which he would otherwise not have gotten.
The twenty nine year old war arrested back in August when a bank discovered the fraud, but Farrell claimed that his colleagues had forged the paperwork. He soon changed his story, however, and pleaded guilty to all four counts. He was charged with fraud by false representation before magistrates. After pleading guilty to the four counts, he requested that they take three other counts under consideration.
Farrell received a nine month prison sentence, which was suspended for two years, and two hundred hours of community service. Leaving the court, he stated, “I’m really sorry about what’s happened. It shouldn’t have happened and it is something I deeply regret. I am wanting to put it behind me and move on with my life and I would like to thank everyone for their support during a tough time in my life. There has been a lot of stress caused, self-inflicted, but I am glad it’s all over and out of the way and looking forward to the future,” according to the ‘UKPA’.
