Anthony Hopkins reveals secret behind successful villainous film roles
February 13th, 2010 - 3:15 pm ICT by ANILondon, February 13 (ANI): Sir Anthony Hopkins has revealed his approach when portraying menacing characters in horror and thriller films.
The legendary actor, who won an Oscar for his role of Hannibal Lecter in Silence of the Lambs, named the greatest villain in screen history by the American Film Institute, said the secret lied in acting “like a submarine”.
“I think part of it is being still… just don’t do much and just let it evolve,” THE BBC quoted him as telling the Los Angeles Times.
The 72-year-old added: “It’s resisting the urge to push the envelope. It’s very difficult for an actor to avoid, you want to show a bit. But I think the less one shows the better.” (ANI)
