London, Jan 13 (ANI): Ant and Dec were the most-watched TV presenters of 2007, a new research has revealed.
The pair, who host Saturday Night Takeaway and I’m A Celeb, were watched by 51 percent of the people in the UK at least once last year.
X Factor host Dermot O’Leary came a close second in the poll, watched by 50 percent of the UK at least once.
Tess Daly, who presents Strictly Come Dancing with Bruce Forsyth, was the only woman to make the top 10, coming in at number five.
Her co-host, Forsyth, was 7th in the poll, with Phillip Schofield, Gary Lineker and Richard Hammond also bagging top 10 places.
The report, compiled by media agency MPG, is based on Barb (Broadcasters’ Audience Research Board) figures, and will be published next week.
Others who made to the list include Top Gear’s Richard Hammond (6th), Jeremy Clarkson (8th), who also guest hosted Have I Got News For You, and James May (9th).
“Our analysis shows that Ant and Dec are the new kings of British TV presenting, the Daily Snack quoted Martyn Stokes, MPG strategy director, as saying.
We predict their popularity will carry on growing throughout 2008 due to ITV’s continued investment in Saturday evening TV, leading to further fame and a higher possibility of success in the US, he added. (ANI)
