Anne Hathaway speaks about her ‘Alice in Wonderland’ role

Melbourne, Feb 28 (ANI): Anne Hathaway has said that she did not let her nerves get in her way while shooting ‘Alice in Wonderland’, as she had just two weeks time on the sets.
The beauty plays the White Queen in the Lewis Carroll-inspired flick directed by Tim Burton.
“I worked only two weeks on the movie so I decided to approach each day with absolute and unflappable gratitude that I was there, and not let any nerves get in my way,” the Daily Telegraph quoted her as saying.
She added: “I would have played a mushroom if Tim had asked me. I wouldn’t have even needed to speak. I would have been just one of the actors in green.
“It was just about getting to be a part of his world, but happily he asked me to play the White Queen and guided me through this interpretation that is a little irreverent and a little left of centre.
“She’s not quite what you’d expect of the ‘good queen’ because, of course, as Tim told me, ‘This is Wonderland and things aren’t black and white, so no one is all good or all bad.’ ”
Hathaway drew inspiration from former Blondie singer Debbie Harry, David Bowie, Greta Garbo, and the works of American minimalist artist Dan Flavin, to play the role.
She said: “The thing about those people is that I think of them as somewhat mysterious.
“They’re hard to know and that is what I wanted the White Queen to have - that quality where your instinct is to peer into her, but there’s a part of her that is hidden, even from herself.
“She seemed like the sort of person who could be self-righteous and annoying, so I decided she needed a little punk rock in her to keep her authentic and a little unexpected.” (ANI)
