July 7, (THAINDIAN NEWS) A Los Angeles judge refused to drop two of the charges against the doctor who was charged with prescribing the drugs to Anna Nicole Smith that led to the accidental fatal drug overdose. Dr. Sandeep Kapoor had sought to remove the charges of conspiracy and unlawful prescription of opiates.

Dr.Sandeep Kapoor, Dr.Khristine Eroshevich and Anna Nicole Smith’s lawyer boyfriend Howard K Stern have been charged with conspiracy and several other counts after the death of the former playboy star Anna Nicole Smith. She died of accidental drug overdose and several stories of a conspiracy did the rounds. The next hearing of the three accused is on July 20. The jury is expected to fill out questionnaires on July 22 and come out with the opening statement by August 5. The Superior Court judge who denied the dropping of the charges against the accused had earlier sent the case to another judge October last year who determined that there was enough evidence to pursue the case against the doctors and the lawyer-boyfriend.

Anna Nicole Smith died at the age of 39 in a Florida Hotel Room due to accidental overdose of prescribed drugs. The three accused have been charged with the administering, prescription and dispense of the control substances to an addict from June 2004 to February 2007. If convicted, the three of them could face more than five years in prison. The toxic substances that led to her death were not illegal according the investigation undertaken after the death of Anna Nicole Smith. Anna Nicole Smith was one of the most popular Playboy models of her time and was also known for her controversial marriage to the oil tycoon J Howard Marshall.
