Anna Kournikova to be a part of ‘The Biggest Loser’
May 27th, 2011 - 10:34 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattNew York City, May 27 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Former tennis star Anna Kournikova has been given a task on the weight-losing show “The Biggest Loser.” NBC announced on Wednesday that the 29-year-old will be a trainer on the show. The next season of the show will start in September.
Anna was born a Russian but she has since changed her nationality to be an American. Despite the fact that she never won a major singles during her career, Anna was considered a sensational tennis star. Beginning her competitive tennis career at the tender age of eight, Anna played in her first Grand Slam championship when she was just 15 years. Her success came in the doubles in 1999 and 2002 when she won the Grand Slam doubles with female tennis legend Martina Hingis. During her playing days, Anna was also famous as a model.
Anna released a statement after the announcement saying, “As a former professional tennis player and certified trainer, this is a wonderful opportunity for me to share my enthusiasm for staying fit across America’s homes.”
“The Biggest Loser” is exclusive to NBC. Contestants are encouraged to lose weight on the show and the one who loses the maximum weight in the show wins the contest and takes away the prize money.
