Nov.14, (THAINDIAN NEWS) American actress and playwright Anna Deavere Smith has created hit headlines once again with her scintillating performance in her solo play “Let Me Down Easy” that premiered last month in the Second Stage Theatre in New York City. The play turned out to be immensely thoughtful and precise with health care as its main focus. The show was basically a collection of tales of life, death and care of suffering body and health.

The play draws its inspiration from the large number of people that the much acclaimed documentarian has interviewed from all across the world about their fight with different kinds of illness and mortality as well as their struggles with the health care sector. The entire play focused on the interactions well known personality such as Lance Armstrong, who successfully fought with testicular cancer and a host of other common people who had diverse experiences with medical care. The play surely touched the hearts of the audiences and left them extremely overwhelmed as the Anna tried to find a connection between health, body and soul. The playwright successfully portrayed life at its extremes with emphasis on the power of the human body. No wonder then the show turned out to be an immensely engaging and thought provoking experience for the audiences.

Apart from her latest venture, Anna is also renowned for her documentary style plays which has also won her multiple awards. Her previous works include plays such as ‘Fires in the Mirror’ and Twilight: Los Angeles where her skillful performance of multiple characters won her many accolades.
