Anjan Dutta’s Take On His Byomkesh Bakshi Film Adim Ripu
December 31st, 2010 - 2:36 pm ICT by Sampurn Wire
film with Abir Chatterjee playing the lead role of Byomkesh.
Dutta says that this is not like usual Byomkesh Bakshi film because he has twisted the script a little bit and concentrated on the character of Ajit, which is played by renowned Bengali actor Saswata Chatterjee. The director says that Bengali television industry has several untapped talent so chose Abir to play Byomkesh. He picked up Chandan Sen to play the arm dealer Batul.
Adim Ripu has been shot in black and white and Anjan Dutta wanted to keep intact the authenticity of pre-Independence and the post-World War II setting of his story.
Renowned Bengali actress Swastika Mukherjee plays a bar dancer called Siuli in the film, which is likely to bring a variation in Bengali detective films after a series of Feluda.
It has been able to grab enough audience in spite of Bollywood films giving tough competition at the Box Office.
