Sep 9, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The plans of burning the Holy Quran by a Florida Pastor named Terry Jones along with 50 of his followers on the 9th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attack has generated nation wide condemnation. From politicians to celebrities to socialites to common people, every single sensible American citizen has voiced his or her annoyance over the planned act. As per reports, famous Hollywood diva Angelina Jolie, who at present is touring flood-hit areas of Pakistan in an attempt to raise fund, has condemned the Holy Quran burning plans of Terry Jones.
Angelina Jolie said to media sources during a news conference that she finds her stock of words scanty to oppose the action of Terry Jones. She said “I have hardly the words[to oppose the action] that somebody would do that to somebody’s religious book”. When asked specifically about whether she supports in any way the American pastor’s decision to burn the Islamic holy book, Angelina Jolie retorted back with vehement protests and asserted “Of course not, of course not”.
The planned Quran burning by Terry Jones along with his followers has received world wide condemnation. Apart from Angelina Jolie the U.S. embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan also condemned the Quran burning plans in a statement on Wednesday. Stephen C Engelken, the U.S. charge d’affaires said in a statement that the action is disrespectful, divisive and intolerant. He said that the authorities are deeply concerned about any deliberate attempts made to offend members of other religious or ethics group. Angelina Jolie visited the northwest Pakistan earlier this week as a U.N. goodwill ambassador. She opined that the flood crisis in Pakistan is far from over as millions of people are still homeless.
