August 18, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Hollywood star Angelina Jolie proclaimed that it’s very important for the people to open their eyes to the flood hit victims of Pakistan. She also said that flood victims of Pakistan should be helped with a sense of compassion.

The flood that devastated Pakistan began on the 22nd of July in the state of Baluchistan. The swollen waters then poured over the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Province in the northwestern side before it flowed towards the southern side into Punjab and Sindh. About 1,300 to 1,600 people have succumbed to this flood. The floods have reportedly displaced 20 million people; however the donations are less for disasters like the Haitian earthquake or the Asian tsunami.

Jolie said that she understood the situation. People get exhausted after a succession of natural disasters. The flood has created a horrendous situation in Pakistan and the entire scenario is simply getting worsened. The flood is reportedly the worst ever as faced by the nation, in 80 odd years.

The Hollywood star Jolie has already visited Haiti, Iraq and other nations as an U.N. goodwill ambassador. The star might as well as visit Pakistan but only after the cameras are turned off.
