Feb 19 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Andrea Friedman is a well established, 40 year old actress, with such shows under her belt as “Saving Grace”, “The Division”, “ER”, “Law and Order SVU”, “7th Heaven”, “Walker,Texas Ranger”, and many more. She worked as a voice actress to star on the show “Family Guy” which aired on Valentine’s Day. Andrea played the role of “Ellen” a character with Down’s syndrome. It is important to note here that Andrea Friedman herself has Down’s Syndrome as well. The show apparently drew the criticism of Sarah Palin, the former governor of Alaska who has a son with Down’s Syndrome. In the show one of Andrea’s lines was “I am the daughter of the former governor of Alaska.” and it drew Palin’s wrath, as she felt it was making fun of her son, Trig. Andrea released a statement that, regardless of anyone’s stand on the issue, was a pretty good burn.

My name is Andrea Fay Friedman. I was born with Down syndrome. I played the role of Ellen on the “Extra Large Medium” episode of Family Guy that was broadcast on Valentine’s day. Although they gave me red hair on the show, I am really a blonde. I also wore a red wig for my role in ” Smudge” but I was a blonde in “Life Goes On”. I guess former Governor Palin does not have a sense of humor. I thought the line “I am the daughter of the former governor of Alaska” was very funny. I think the word is “sarcasm”.

In my family we think laughing is good. My parents raised me to have a sense of humor and to live a normal life. My mother did not carry me around under her arm like a loaf of French bread the way former Governor Palin carries her son Trig around looking for sympathy and votes.

Andrea also emphasizes that she was not making fun of Palin’s son, as Palin suggests, she was making fun of Palin!
