Sep 1 (IBNS) Celebrity Indian-American fashion designer Anand Jon Alexander, now found guilty of sexually assaulting aspiring models, had earlier asked a judge for a new trial. However, it was rejected. The judgment has been finally announced.

On one hand, he was citing alleged juror and prosecutorial misconduct. The 35-year-old, who was representing himself, said the jury that convicted him in November of 14 counts was not fair or impartial.

On the other hand, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge David Wesley announced the judgement, saying there were no new grounds for granting such a motion.

Now, Anand Jon has been sentenced to a minimum of 59 years in prison for preying upon seven young aspiring models as young as 14 and sexually assaulting them.

Jon was born in South India and came to the U.S. to study at the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale and later at Parsons The New School for Design.

He sold collections at stores including Bergdorf Goodman, in New York City, Wilkes Bashford, in San Francisco, and Luisa Via Roma, in Florence, Italy.

His clothes had been modeled by and designed for celebrities such as Paris Hilton, Rosario Dawson, Lawrence Fishburne, Gina Torres, Oprah Winfrey and Janet Jackson. His style was primarily known for its specific detail and Indian influence.
