anandFashion designer Anand Jon Alexander received the sentences for the charges that were pending against him on Monday, August 31st. The Superior Court Judge David Wesley sentenced Alexander to 59 years to life in prison. The court found him guilty of charges of sexual assault on seven aspiring models, who he is said to have lured to Los Angeles.

The 35 year old Alexander remained impassive, his countenance displaying no emotion while his sentence was being read out.

Judge David Wesley was strict in his sentencing, saying that Alexander should be locked behind bars for a long time for committing crimes against young girls and women. The Judge said, “Mr. Alexander has showed no remorse for his actions.” In November 2008, he was convicted of 14 counts of charges, including rape by force. During his trial, he has been found to be guilty of 4 felonies, while jurors couldn’t decide upon a verdict on three other counts.

Alexander’s victim’s were seated in the jury box while his sentenced was being passed. When the judge read it out loud, most of the women broke down in tears. Several of Alexander’s victim’s spoke against him in the trial, recounting their tales of horror and anguish that the popular designer made them go through. Most had alleged that they now suffer from depression and paranoia because of what has happened to them. One of them said, “I was 14. You took my adolescence, my trust, my dream and completely manipulated them for your sexual desires.”

The defense attorney had argued during the trial that a pattern of inconsistencies could be detected in the testimonies of the victims which implied that they were lying about the rape charges and only sought to destroy the designer’s professional career.
