Amy Winehouse to be cleared of trying to fix husbands trial

London, Jan 6 (ANI): Troubled singer Amy Winehouse is to be cleared of allegedly trying to fix her jailed husband Blake Fielder-Civils GBH trial, it has been revealed.

Police has not found enough evidence that the 24-year-old offered 200,000 pounds to her husbands alleged assault victim to get him to drop his charge against Fielder-Civil.

Last month, the Rehab singer was dramatically arrested and had her DNA and fingerprints taken.

However, the tests have failed to provide any conclusive evidence to link her to the plot.

She was interrogated over a suspected plot to bribe barman James King, allegedly beaten up by her 25-year-old husband in an east London pub in June 2006.

Police arrested Winehouse on suspicion of offering 200,000 pounds to King in return for a promise to drop his statement against Fielder-Civil, who has been charged with conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.

Police has apparently inspected computer software at Amys flat to find out if she had been involved in trying to set up a place in Spain for King to lie low until the case collapsed.

They have looked closely at where the money allegedly offered to King came from, but even if they were able to trace it back to Amys bank account, it is believed the evidence would not be enough to charge her.

“The evidence-building is purely circumstantial at this stage and is not enough to charge Amy with anything, News of the World quoted a Crown Prosecution Service source, as saying.

“If she did give money to her husband, this is not a criminal offence and is not enough to prove she was involved in a conspiracy. Unless new evidence comes to light it is likely the case against her will be dropped,” the source added.

After Winehouses arrest, she was released on police bail until March. However, she could be told she is in the clear well before then. (ANI)
