Los Angeles, Sep 12 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Amy Winehouse is closely moving to stardom after she featured on Quincy Jones’s upcoming tribute album. Amy, who surprised many with her performance at a London movie last month, contributed “Its My Party” on the Q: Soul Bossa Nostra. Amy and her producer, Mark Ronson performed “Valerie” at the premiere.
“Its My Party” was originally made by Lesley Gore in 1963, and Quincy says he was thrilled by the way Amy and her producer - Mark Ronson, took the song and made it their own.
Quincy who was all praise for her, also said that he admired Amy for the respect she had for music and the tremendous knowledge she has about music and its history. Jones said that, “I am thrilled that she and Mark wanted to be a part of this album and I absolutely love what they did to make the song their own. Amy’s talents as an artist are undisputable and I am astounded not only by her voice but by her tremendous knowledge of and respect for music and its history.”
Amy had not released any song since she appeared on Zuton’s “Valerie” in 2007. She has promised to come out with a new album in January 2011. Unfortunately, the potential star has recently been in the news for some negativity concerning her use of drugs.
Quincy had known Amy since they met at Nelson’s Mandela 90th birthday celebrations. Quincy reportedly asked Amy to feature on the tribute album and that is exactly what Amy had done.
