July 19 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Amy Adams has just been confirmed by Wyck Godfrey, film director, as the actress who will play the part of Janis Joplin in an upcoming movie about the life of the rocker who died at the age of 27 from a heroin overdose, according to ‘FearNet’.

The movie, which has no studio and a script which has been revised many times is not the first attempt at a Joplin movie. Among the many is an impressive screen test by Pink, for Penelope Spheeris on another Joplin project.

Lily Taylor, who is 43 was supposed to play the part of Joplin in 1999, but the film never got off the ground. In 2003, Renee Zellweger was set to play the part at the age of 41, as she won over such contestants as Melissa Etheridge, Courtney Love, and Brittany Murphy for the movie entitled “Piece of my Heart”.

By 2005, the film still was not in the works, and the 30 year old Pink was already involved with another Joplin project called, “The Gospel According to Janis”. When she found out that Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan, and Scarlett Johansson were also up for the part, she quit.
