America’s Got Talent: Semi Finals & Results
August 26th, 2011 - 1:27 pm ICT by Angela Kaye MasonAug 26 (THAINDIAN NEWS) This week marked the beginning of the semi finalists round on ‘America’s Got Talent’. The acts, which were being judged by Sharon Osbourne, Howie Mandel, Piers Morgan had to really bring it if they had any hopes of making it through. Some of them did, and others killed all hope. Of the twelve acts which performed this week, only five would make it.
The first group to perform was the acrobatic act known as Zuma Zuma. Their performance was given to honor a fallen member of their group, who died of a broken neck during one of their tricks. Piers loved their act, which continued in their tribal theme. Although Sharon liked it, she felt their former performance was better. Howie agreed with Sharon but still feels they are amazing. They did not make it through, however. Neither did the Sandou Trio Russian Bar after they did not do a bar act. Piers called their act “suicidal” which it ended up to be.
Beth Ann Robinson, who is a solo dancer was next on the stage. Piers felt that she was very good, possibly the best technical dancer they had ever had. Sharon called it flawless, but added that the competition is very tough. Howie called it beautiful and mesmerizing, but did note that the other acts were quite good as well. Unfortunately, Beth Ann will be heading home. Kevin Colis was going home as well after disappointing all three judges during his solo performance of ‘Rhythm of Love’.
Matt Wilhelm also went home after his cyclist act was not up to par. His act was very exciting despite the fact that he fell off his bike at one point, but it was simply not enough to get the votes of America. Melissa Villasenor suffered a similar fate when her comedienne act fell short of the vote. Piers actually laughed at her act, and Sharon loved it as well. Howie felt that she deserved to be in the competition. She was sent home after the vote, however. Daniel Joseph Baker was also sent home even though his performance of ‘Turn the Tables’ was well received by the judges.
The groups and performances who DID make it through to the next round of ‘America’s Got Talent’ were Team iLuminate, Lys Agnes, Poplyfe, Miami All Stars and West Springfield Dance Team. Poplyfe won their votes with a performance of the Beatles’ song ‘Come Together’, which the judges loved. The West Springfield Dance Team started their act with ‘Crazy Train’, an original tune by Sharon’s rock star hubby, Ozzy. Team iLuminate wowed their audience with new technology, and The Miami All Stars were Piers’ favorite of the night with their Broadway style act. Lys Agnes came back to win her voted after being put on bed rest by a doctor.
