stJuly 15, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The performance round of the quarterfinals of America’s Got Talent was aired on July 14 and there emerged quite a few surprises for the audience in the form of selections as well as choices. Selena Gomez performed on stage with The Scene. They promoted their latest single from their upcoming album ‘A Year Without Rain’. Dee Snider made a surprise entry in the middle of Constantine Maroulis’ performance with the rest of the cast of the Rock Of Ages.

Apart from the stellar performances, there were a few heartbreaks for the audience as the results came out one by one and 4 of the 12 contestants were selected from the semifinals. Among those unexpectedly sent home were the Hot Shot Tap Dancers who tap danced into the heart of the judges earlier. They lost to the singing sisters Christina and Ali. Another surprise came with the qualification of the youngest performers- Future Funk. The hip hop dance duo competed against the likes of RNG and were extremely emotional during the announcements. An almost obvious selection was the dance group ‘Fighting Gravity’. The group has been touted as one of the front-runners in the competition with their unique performances. The group relies mainly on illusion and simple sciences to produce a performance where the dancers look like they are floating in the air.

The performers who qualify for the next round have been selected after the consideration of the audience votes and the judges choices as well. The judges panel consists of Piers Morgan, Sharon Osbourne and Howie Mandel. The competition gets more intense from here and the performers will need to come up with more innovations and uniqueness if they want to get the $1 million prize money and headline a show in Las Vegas.
