American Idol winner Fantasia Barrino hospitalized for overdose
August 11th, 2010 - 2:13 am ICT by BNO NewsCHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA (BNO NEWS) – Fantasia Barrino, the winner of the third season of American Idol, was hospitalized on Monday night due to an overdose of medication, NewsChannel 36 reported on Tuesday.
At 8:55 p.m. local time, Barrino was taken to Carolinas Medical Center-Pineville. The medics at CMC said that her condition was not life-threatening but they did not disclose what substances were involved or if it was an accidental or intentional overdose.
Barrino came in the spotlight several days ago for allegedly having an affair and filming a sex-tape with a married man. Antwuan Cook was accused by his wife, Paula Cook, of having an extra-marital affair with Fantasia Barrino since 2009.
She also alleged that the couple filmed in repeated occasions their illicit sexual intercourses. A complaint filed by Cook on Wednesday includes one of the sex tapes as proof.
Barrino’ s manager released a statement earlier which stated that Fantasia was sure that she did not have anything to do with disrupting Cooks’ marriage.
