May 20 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Wednesday night on American Idol, the top three contestants from this season, Scotty McCreery, Haley Reinhart, and Lauren Alaina took the stage and gave it their all on three different songs. The first song was their choice, the second was chosen by Jimmy Irvine, and the third was judge’s choice. There were fifteen million more viewers for that show than the finale had last season..a total of ninety five million votes. Last night, those three final contestants were back live on ‘American Idol’ to find out who America had voted for, and which one would be going home.

The top three contestants were able to go to their home towns for a homecoming. Clips of these heart warming events were shown last night, with Haley’s trip home first. Haley’s eyes were tear filled as she arrived at Wheeler High School and again at Arlington Park. She rocked the stage in her home town of Chicago with her dad.

Garner, North Carolina was the place where Scotty’s homecoming took place. He visited with his family, and also Garner High School. Th trip also took him to the grocery store where he once worked, which was packed full of fans. He sobbed with joy as they all crowded in on him. As he gave a concert for his hometown, he was shocked when Josh Turner showed up to sing with him.

Lauren’s homecoming took her to North Georgia to the town of Rossville, where she visited her high school as well, but the high school where she played basketball was destroyed by storms. The tears flowed from her eyes as she saw the devastation in her hometown from the tornadoes which hit there a few weeks ago.

Soon it was time for Ryan Seacrest to give us the results. The lights were dimmed, and he promised to reveal them after the break. The first contestant who will be in the finale is Scotty! The person who will compete against Scotty is Lauren! Oh this is gonna be good!
