Mar 3 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Ta Tynisa Wilson came out first on last night’s ‘American Idol..and gave a, not so interesting performance of “Only Girl in the World”. Jennifer said that although she was off to a shaky start, she ended up doing a great job, and Steven felt that it was a “beautiful way to open the show.” Randy, however, expressed a different opinion, “It was just ok. You didn’t bring anything special or different to it. It had pitch issues. I didn’t get it.” It seems perhaps Randy will be the Simon of this season, and tell the singers what they may not want to hear.

Next, it was Naima Adedapo singing “Summertime.” Once again, it was Randy who was not extremely impressed, while the other two seemed to love it. Steven said that he liked it a lot, and that it was something American needed. Jennifer loved the way she nailed the note at the end. But Randy felt that it was a bit loungy, but he did say that she got it right in the end.

All three judges loved Kendra Chantelle’s version of “Impossible.” Steven told her that she had done it again, and that she was the whole package. Jennifer told her that she had “heart” and that she belonged in the top twelve. Randy loved her bravado, and felt connected to her…he loved it.

Meanwhile, Rachel Zevita’s rendition of “Criminal” did not really do it for the judges, Steven said that it was a bit too Broadway for him, and Jennifer added, “Do you want America to see you as a Broadway star or a recording artist?” Randy stated that he did not recognise the song at all, and felt that it just was not good, and id not work.

The next two singers truly impressed the judges. Karen Rodriguez sang “Hero” and it was truly beautiful. Jennifer could say nothing but “Wow. Wow, wow, wow. I don’t have to say anything else.” Jennifer loved that she switched from English to Spanish in the song, and then switched back. Steven said she was one of a kind, and Randy loved it as well.

Lauren Turner also made the judges happy when she sang “Seven Day Fool.” Randy expressed, That’s how you do it. You could do something interesting and new. Very nice.” Steven thought it was beautiful, and Jennifer said that her voice was undeniable, and that it was great.

Jennifer, Randy, and Steven were also happy with Ashton Jones’ performance of “Love Over Me.” Although Randy did not like the song, he felt she had confidence and that she should take on bigger songs. Jennifer said that she had the makings of a diva, and Steven said they had found a queen.

Julie Zorrilla sang “Breakaway” and Randy felt that it did not quite work, and she did not show herself in the best light possible. Steven also felt that it was the wrong song for her, and Jennifer liked it, but felt that Julie needed to connect more with the words.

Haley Reinhart did a great job on “Fallin” but once again, Randy did not like it. He said it was almost like a karaoke thing. Steven, however, liked it a lot, and said that she had just the right amounts of both stylish and sexy. Jennifer loved the “different colors” that she saw in Haley’s voice, and the way she used her voice and made the song hers.

Thai Megia sang “Out Here on My Own” and Jennifer felt that it was a really special moment. Randy felt that her tone reminded him of his brother..the late Michael Jackson. Steven said that her pitch was perfect and this it was perfect.

And Lauren Alaina blew the crowd and the judges away with her rendition of “Turn on Your Radio.” Randy compared her to Carrie Underwood meets Kelly Clarkston, and told her “You don’t know how good you are.” Steven loved it, and loves her, and Jennifer said that Lauren does not even have to try.

Perhaps saving the best for last, Pia Toscano got the first standing ovation of the season with “I’ll Stand By You.” Randy told her that she had just put herself on top of the great performances of the night. Steven was in awe and said that it was unbelievable, and Jennifer felt it was out of this world.

Last night the top twelve girls performed, and before that, the top twelve guys. Tonight the results will be given. I hope you watched and voted last night!
