American Idol: Top 9 Revealed
April 1st, 2010 - 2:11 pm ICT by Angela Kaye MasonApr 1 (THAINDIAN NEWS) As the top ten contestants on American Idol were called out one by one to learn their fate, the audience seemed to hold their breath. Lee was the first called, and he was safe. The judges all felt he stepped up to a whole new level the night before. Casey was also asked to take his seat since he was safe. Aaron sang “Ain’t No Sunshine” and the judges said he did great, but it didn’t seem real. Ryan made the point that at 16 Aaron had no way to understand what it feels to be in love….and once again the tension between him and Simon ignited. Aaron was, however, safe. Siobhan and Katie were next. Siobhan said that even if she were not voted through, she was not defeated and did not look at it that way. Katie said she took the advice from the judges, and then decides for herself what she feels is right. Siobhan was safe and Katie was the first to be in the bottom three. After a few more tense words between Simon and Ryan, Simon looked to Kara, and worded, “What’s the matter with him?” I am not sure what the deal is between the two of them, but it does not feel like a joke at all, and it makes the show somewhat uncomfortable to watch. Usher gave an exciting performance, with awesome dancers and lighting after the first half of the show.
Didi was the first contestant called up after the break. She was not safe, but is a bottom three contestant. “Big Mike” was next, and Ellen said that she had seen subtlety in Mike the night before and she loved it. He was safe, and celebrated by lifting Ryan high into the air. Crystal sang “Midnight Train to Georgia” the previous night while playing the piano. She was safe. Tim and Andrew came next, and Andrew was safe, which put Tim in the bottom three with Katie and Didi. Katie was named as the safe one, which leaves Tim and Didi as the bottom two. Diddy & Dirty Money then gave a creative performance with intense strobe lighting which went on for 10 to 15 seconds. America was asked to turn their televisions up and their lights down and “rock with us.” With the two performers and all of their dancers dressed in black and white, the light effects were awesome. Tim and Didi stood as Ryan announced their fate, and Tim was safe again! Didi had to sing for her life. She sang Fleetwood Mac’s “Rihanna.” Although Simon told her that it was a million times better than she did the previous night, she did not win the save. So Didi went home last night.
