American Idol-Top 9 Results: Did American Get it Wrong?
April 8th, 2011 - 3:33 pm ICT by Angela Kaye MasonApr 8 (THAINDIAN NEWS) As American Idol began last night, there were nine contestants left who had performed the previous night. The Top Nine took the stage on Wednesday hoping to wow the judges and woo the audience with their talent, and with their ability to perform and connect. Some of the contestants excelled and others did okay, but all of them were definitely worthy of ‘American Idol’.
As the show opens up, Ryan Seacrest informs the audience that the results could be very shocking. The Top Nine performed a mix which started off with “I Love Rock n Roll” and moved right into “The Letter” before ending with “Sweet Home Alabama.” Then the Ford commercial “Love Gun” video was shown with it’s ‘Mission Impossible’ flair.
Rayn gave the order to dim the lights, and it was time…Casey, Stefano, And Lauren are called first. Incidentally, Stefano seems to be the favorite to go home in the online world of American Idol sites. Ryan takes forever, and scares Lauren by making her thing she is going home, but she is safe, Casey is safe, and Stefano is in the bottom three.
After a performance of “Unchained Melody” by Constantine, Pia, Scotty, and Paul were called up. Ryan reminded each one of the awesome performances they had given the night before. Scotty was safe, Paul is safe, and for the first time, Pia is in the bottom three. The audience did not like this, and loudly booed their displeasure.
James, Haley, and Jacob were called up next. James was called out first, as Ryan reminded the audience of his song, “My Guitar Gently Weeps”. Ryan then moved on to Haley and Jacob. James is safe, Haley was safe, and Jacob was in the bottom three. Jacob, Pia, and Stefano were the bottom three.
Iggy Pop was up for a performance next, and then the results….as the audience held it’s breath, Ryan informed Jacob that he would be leaving….and going to safety on the couch! Jacob is safe, and Pia is going home. Randy could be seen mouthing the word “NO!” as Jennifer just shook her head and kept it down.
Jennifer said she had no idea how this could have happened, and that she is shocked and angry and had no idea what to say. Randy and Steven agreed and Randy admitted that he is mad as well. Steven said to America, “Making a mistake is one thing, but lack of passion is inexcusable.” None of the judges were happy with the decision, and urged the audience to vote from now on.
