American Idol: Top 9 Perform
April 7th, 2010 - 2:43 pm ICT by adminBy Anita Thomas
Nine contestants remain in the American Idol singing competition after Didi Benami went home last week. This week the contestants will perform songs written by Paul McCartney and John Lennon.
Aaron Kelly starts the show by singing “The long and winding road” and fell flat on most of the notes. Simon and Kara told him they feel as if they are watching the same performance of him over and over. If he is still on next week he said he would mix it up, sounds like he already has something in mind. Seventeen-year-old Katie Stevens sung “Let it be” and was great. The judges were very impressed and said she would not be in the bottom three tomorrow with a performance like that. Katie explained that she was determined to improve each week and indeed she did.
Andrew Garcia the clown out of the group as the other contestants had said. His performance was solid, but Kara mentioned she wants to see more from him. Big Mike Lynch also known as The Hulk among his idol friends mixed up the “Eleanor Rigby” song with Randy Jackson saying he could make an album with that. Kara said he was on fire and made that song commercial for today. Simon was not impressed and said it sounded like a musical to him. Crystal Bowersox also called Momma Sox chose a fun song for her performance “Come together” and made it her own. She clearly is in this competition to win it.
Smiling Tim Urban who performed “All my loving” had Ellen telling him that was his second best performance even Simon loved it. Big laugh and big hair Casey James showed his sensitive side with a ballet and he became a hit with the judges. Simon gave him a boost of confidence when he told Casey it was the best performance all night. Siobhan Magnus took a softer approach to her performance when she sang “Across the Un iverse” and Ellen told her she was glad to see that she stays true to herself. Lee DeWyze ended the show with “Hey Jude” and had the crowd on their feet. Randy told him to believe in himself cause that performance was hot.
After a night of great performances it is hard to determine who will stay and who will go, but we will tune in tomorrow night to see who gets voted off.
