American Idol to lower the age limit to 15 years

amera New York City, Jun 22 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The producers of the musical reality show American Idol have announced that they are going to lower the age limit of the show from the current 16 years to 15 years.

“A lot of young, talented people are now seeking careers and representation before they turn 16. Lowering the age limit allows us to tap into this talent pool,” according to Cecile Frot-Coutaz, who is an executive producer of the musical reality show American Idol.

The auditions for the 10th season of the show are all set to start on the 17th of July. The team of the American Idol would visit 6 US cities, to short-list the candidates for the show. With the lowering of the age limit, now many more youngsters who want to make it big in singing, can try for the auditions of the show this year itself.

However American Idol is yet to announce the replacement judge for Simon Cowell, who had left the show recently. There are speculations that he might be replaced by Poison frontman Bret Michaels, but there has been no official confirmation as yet from either side. Simon Cowell is all set to start another show for the US audiences – ‘X-Factor’.
