American Idol, the popular reality show, ended in a bit of a shocker this week. Anticipation and anxiety filled the air when the results were being announced. It was a sad revelation that a sensational singing talent, Alexis Grace, had to make an exit from the show. Alexis was voted off by the audience leaving only 10 contestants behind for the competition.

The eighth season of the American idol series began this January. It ignited lot of hopes for new talents. The show provides a platform for budding singers to exhibit their singing qualities. Thousands of people appear for the auditions. The judges’ shortlist them, and the final set of competitors appear in the show ready to face the stiff singing competition. This show gets the highest television ratings. Viewers relate to it because they are the ones voting for the contestants every week after week, the contestant with the least votes is eliminated. And this week Alexis Grace had to leave the show because of lack of public support.

In this week’s episode, Alexis Grace and Michael Sarver were in the bottom two. Michael was declared safe. This meant that Alexis would have to return home, unless the judges decide to save her. However, the judges wanted her to perform first. The final results were announced. Alexis would have to “go Home”. Alas, one more Idol hopeful is going home!
