“American Idol” Reduces Minimum Age Limit To 15

ameraJune 22, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Fox musical reality series “American Idol” has reduced the age limit for participating in the singing competition to 15 for the upcoming tenth installment of the show. The announcement was made on Monday in which a representative of the show revealed that the minimum age requirement for participating in the musical show has been lowered to 15 from the earlier age limit of sixteen.

In a statement that was released by Cecile Frot-Coutaz, the executive producer of the musical reality show, it was highlighted that the decision to reduce the age limit to 16 was taken as nowadays many talented individuals are looking for career and representations before they turn 16 years old.

The executive producer further added that decreasing the minimum age of participation to 15 would give them the opportunity to tap into this wider spectrum of talent pool. However, the maximum age limit to compete in the musical reality series still remains 28.

At the same time, it has also been announced that the auditions for the tenth season of “American Idol” would begin on July 17 in as many as six cities across United States.

Although the makers of the reality series have divulged the new age limit for the show, there is still no word on who would be taking the position of judge Simon Cowell, who decided to part ways with the series in the month of May to launch the U.S version of ‘The X-Factor’ which is all set to start from next year.

During the ninth season of the show, Paula Abdul was replaced by guest judges Victoria Beckham and Shania Twain.
