americanidolJan 21, (THAINDIAN NEWS) American Idol is a reality show that has not lost its sheen or appeal even after its 8th season. The show has a huge viewer base and the viewers keep a close track on twists in the show with rapt attention. The auditions of American Idol receive as much attention as the episodes. The audition in Chicago was kind of listless and everyone pinned their hopes on the Orlando audition. It took place on Wednesday, Jan 20. The judges were quite hopeful after the Orlando audition. There was a guest judge in the audition, Kristin Chenoweth. Simon Cowell and other judges were there too. Like every audition of the show, the Orlando audition also had its moments of ups and downs.

The performance of Seth Rollins, who is in his late 20’s mesmerized the judges. The judges were also impressed with the vocal skills of another contender named Matt Lawrence. His rendition of Ray Lamontagne’s “Trouble” was simply awesome and it is difficult to believe that this candidate had a troubled past and was involved in criminal activities. Eve Simon Cowell praised him profusely. The boys who auditioned were very god and the performance of the girls was perhaps better.

Shelby Dressel, just 18 year old, sang a hit Norah Jones track, ‘Turn Me On’ but she messed up with the lyrics. However, one has to take into account the fact that she suffers from a sort of facial paralysis. The other girls delivered overall good performance and the judges did not find much to crib about their vocal skills.
