July 8 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The American Idol Live Tour featuring the top ten contestants of this past season has been cut short, with some of the shows being canceled altogether and others being moved up, according to a new revised schedule which was posted by ‘Live Nation’, the tour organizer.

The new tour will wrap up on August 31 , although it was originally planned to end on September 16 in Portland Oregon. There was no word yet as to why the tour dates were canceled, but some speculation is that perhaps they were not getting the ticket sales which were hoped for. ‘Live Nation’s’ spokeswoman, Liz Morentin had no comment when she was asked for the reason the dates were changed, however.

The shows which were canceled completely were located in cities such as: Omaha, Neb.; Kansas City, Mo.; Winnipeg, Manitoba; Toronto; Buffalo, N.Y.; and Cleveland. The shows which were changed to an earlier date are in: Des Moines, Iowa; Minneapolis; Chicago; and Toledo, Ohio and other cities.

‘American Idol’ has been the top rated television show for quite some time, yet had it’s ratings drop in the ninth season, and was topped by ‘ABC’s’ ‘Dancing With The Stars’ in ratings several times. The last show of the season, in which Lee DeWyze and Crystal Bowersox battled for the title of ‘America Idol’, there was a total of 24.2 million viewers, as opposed to the 29 million viewers who saw Adam Lambert win last season.
