Feb 23 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The top twenty-four have been chosen and tonight the ladies took the stage. The top twelve girls performed before the judges Simon Cowell, Ellen DeGenerous, Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi. Paige Miles a preschool teacher, performed first with the song “Alright now” and gave a solid performance that showed her vocal abilities. Ashley Rodriguez sang “Happy” and didn’t sell the song to the judges like she thought she would. Janelle Wheeler, who had to win Simon over during Hollywood week sang the Heart hit “What about love” and didn’t get great reviews by the judges. Lily Scott from Denver performs the Beetle song “Fixing a hole” and hit every note right to which the judges agreed she would stand out as one of the best of the night. Katelyn Epperly performed “Oh Darlin” a 1969 hit that fit her voice and gave her a strong perform ance. Haeley Vaughn from Denver also, sang a Beetles song “I want to hold your hand” and changed it around to fit her style. The problem according to Simon and Randy was that she was confused on what her style was. Lacy Brown who made it all the way to Hollywood week last year then was sent home. She came back strong this year and made it to the top 24. Her song choice “Landslide” from Fleetwood Mac, had the judges criticizing her vocals and reminded her it is all about finding the right song for your voice. Twenty-two year old Michele Delamor sang Alicia Keys and impressed the judges enough that they believe she will be back. Didi Benami sang Ingrid Michelson’s “Take me the way I am” showed the judges her vocal talent, but they also found it quite boring. Simon explained they (the girls) are missing that spark that sets a them apart from the others. Chris Isaacs “Wicked Game” was a pleasant surprise for Kara when Siobhan Magnus completed the song. A young Ohio mom Crystal Bowersox gave a solid performance with her harmonica and guitar for accompaniments Alanis Morissette would have been proud to hear her sing “Hand in my pocket”. Last to perform was seventeen-year-old Katie Stevens who Ellen said was singing to old for her age and that she should “ Be seventeen, be young and current”. Taking everything to heart Katie agreed with all that the judges had to say. Tomorrow night the guys take the stage to showcase their talents and win your votes.
