May 26 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Well folks, we have come to the end of this journey. This is the final week of this season’s ‘American Idol’ and Simon Cowell’s last week on the show as well. Last night Lee DeWyze and Crystal Bowersox competed to see who would be this season’s ‘American Idol’. There were three different songs performed by each contestant. The following was typed live as I watched.

Lee sang his favorite song first, ‘The Boxer’ from Inspiration Week. He played the acoustic guitar along as he sang as it was wonderful. Randy stated that this was a great way to start the night off, but pick it up. Ellen said she could not be prouder if she had birthed him herself, and that he did better then the first time. Kara greed with Randy, he needs to punch harder but that it was great. Simon said “This is the big one, I expect a little more passion and excitement. That was a kiss on the cheek when I wanted a kiss on the lips.”

Crystal came back at him with her (and my) favorite of her songs, ‘Me and Bobby McGee’. And just as she did before, she is kicking butt! WOW! that is my opinion, now let’s hear the judges. Randy said that it started slow, and at the end, it was the Crystal we love, and he hopes she makes a record like that. Ellen thinks she is so compelling on stage, that she and her guitar fill the room, and “yeah”. Kara stated that she loved it both times, and Crystal has fire in her belly tonight, and Simon said she brought him back to the time when they absolutely fell in love with her, this was her back on top and “We have a competition tonight!”

And boy do we ever! Here goes Lee with ‘Everybody Hurts’ and oh my goodness, I have chills! It was picked by executive producer, Simon Fuller. This guy knows how to pick a song! Randy said it was so much better, and he felt the passion. Ellen said she felt that it went off a few times, but it is about the performance, and he did a great job, but did pull back some. Kara loved that she could feel every word. Simon thought it was a brilliant song choice, although he was off melody at parts, and he knows Lee is nervous and needs to do his best on his last performance.

Crystal came back at him again, this time with ‘Black Velvet’ and dressed in heels and a black dress, she bellowed it out and blew the audience away! Accompanied by an electric guitar,it was hot! And Randy thought so as well! Ellen said it was fantastic! Kara felt that tonight is the night to give her all, and that is what she was doing. Simon had a little problem because he is tired of the song, yet Crystal took the song and absolutely nailed it. He was really impressed.

Lee’s final song was ‘It’s A Beautiful Day’, and he did a great job, but I am not sure if it is enough to beat Crystal. They are both great. Randy said that once again he did great by the middle of the song. Ellen added that watching the process of his growth was amazing. Kara felt that Lee was swallowed by the song, but he has grown the most, and has one of the best commercial voices of the season and he deserves to be here. Simon said that for his final judge for Lee, is that he is what the competition was designed for, a great person who deserved a chance.

The last song of the season, Crystal’s final song, was ‘Up To The Mountain’. It was yet another great song for her voice. Randy paused for the audience’s applause, and then said this was an amazing song by an amazing singer, that it was incredible. Ellen said that she was unique,”I cannot compare you to one person, contemporary artist, right now,” and added Crystal was in a league of her own, with a beautiful voice. Kara said that this was a very important song for her tonight, that it let down her walls, and she really blossomed with that song. “You were completely, emotionally invested in that song, unlike any other night,” Kara added. Crystal stopped the judges to thank Simon and wish him goodbye and good luck on his future endeavors. Simon felt that this was by far the best song of the night, and for the last critique he is ever going to give on ‘Idol’, “That was outstanding.” And with tears among all of this season’s Idol contestants who were in the audience, as well as Lee and Crystal, Simon’s final judgement show ended.
