American Idol: Eleven Contestants Sing for Their Dream

Mar 23 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Here we are tuning into another episode of American Idol as they perform top Billboard Hits from the last 50 years. Last week Lacey Brown was sent home after her weak performance during The Rolling Stone week. This week is very important for the Idol contestants since only ten can go on the American Idol tour this summer. So they need to sing not just well, but Great! Their dreams are depending on their performance tonight.
Hanna Montana’s Miley Cyrus was helping the idols out with their performance offering advice and constructive criticism. Lee Dewyze sang “Letter” from the Box Tops and Kara told him “You raised the bar for yourself”. Paige Miles had Miley help her to control some pitch problems with her song “Against all odds” from Phil Collins. The judges thought her performance of the song was dreadful and real ly pitching. Simon asked Paige how she thought she did; she agreed her performance was not great and she is struggling with song choice. Was her performance strong enough for the voters to keep her on next week?
“Crazy little thing called love” a big hit for Queen was suppose to put fun back into Tim Urban’s performance, but it left judges were very disappointed. Ellen compared his feat to High School Musical and said she “Didn’t get it” and Randy said, “It was not good at all”. Aaron Kelly who admitted he had a bit of a crush on Miley was thrilled to meet her. Was his performance of Aero Smith “Don’t want to miss a thing” singing with tonsillitis, enough to impress the judges? Yes it was, Randy is a fan of his and Kara was happy with his song choice. Crystal Bowersox no doubt will perform well with “Me and Bobby McGee” by Janis Joplin. Randy called her a star and said this is what American Idol is about. Ellen and Kara though t she should put the guitar down and connect more with the crowd. Tune in next week (she will be there) to see what she has planned, she said it would be something different. Simon told her to not change a thing she is great and thought her version of the song was as good as when Pink sang it. Michael Lynche released his inner Casanova and proved he has talent with “When a man loves a women”, but the judges thought he over performed the song. Andrew put some blues into his song choice and Miley told him to lose the guitar and to go with it. Andrew Garcia proved he does not need the guitar to sound good, but his song choice “Heard it through the grapevine” by legendary artist Marvin Gay was what the judges called corny. Katie Stevens took Miley’s advice to stay true to herself and followed through with her song “Big girls don’t cry” by none other then Fergie. Randy was glad to see that Katie was listening to their advice of being young. Casey James taking Simon’s advice to push him self makes the Huey Lewis “Power of love” his song. Didi Benami tired to showcase her vocals with Linda Ronstadt 1974 hit “Your no good”. The judges thought her vocals were off. Aiming for something different and more current she was having fun with the song. The powerful voice of Siobhan Magnus ended the show and she rocked the house with “Superstitious” by the great Stevie Wonder. Simon’s last word of advice to all the contestant except Crystal, who we agree with Simon is in a league of her own, was to push themselves to be better.
