American Idol Jan 27 (THAINDIAN NEWS) “American Idol” was in Dallas, Texas for last night’s show. “Neil Patrick Harris“, who started with “Doogie Howser MD” and is now a star of “How I Met Your Mother” was the guest judge for Day One in Dallas. One of the first contestants was a return tryout, who had been told by Simon before that she should sue her voice coach. This time was not much better, and Neil Patrick Harris was the first to tell her so. Simon told her that nothing, from the outfit (a blue-green sequin number) to the song was any good at all.

Lloyd Thomas followed after a few ladies made it through. A dockworker, he was born and raised in the projects in Dallas, and now has two young beautiful daughters, which he showed a picture of. He sang “Overjoyed” by “Stevie Wonder” and had an amazing voice. Simon called it his “favorite audition of the day” and Randy said “A billion percent yes”. He got 4 yeses! He is a very likable guy and will probably do quite well with the fans this year.

Neil and Simon seemed to be having “issues” and were possibly headed to a standoff, when the next girl came along. She did an original song, and Randy loved it, but Simon said she was not current, and not memorable, to which Neil Patrick Harris disagreed, and then the others gave her a “yes”. Simon, however, stuck to his “No” but the other three votes got her through. When she ran out the doors, showing off her “Golden Ticket” she laughed to her family, “Simon totally hated me, but the others completely overrode him, and thank God for Neil Patrick Harris! I am gonna have to go back and watch Doogie Howser now!”

Dexter Warren came along just then, to let us all know that the show is over, because he IS the next “American Idol.” He sang “If I Ever Fall In Love Again” and it was NOT a very good rendition, and Kara was speechless, Randy told him it looked like it hurt. Simon told him that it wasn’t good, and Neil Patrick Harris agreed. Quite a few “no’s” followed, with a lot of tears.

Then along came Erica, one of the little girls from the kid’s television show, “Barney.” She was no where near the innocent and sweet little child from The Barney Show. She waltzed in wearing long black spike heeled boots, and a black leather mini skirt, bearing a whip. She said that Janet Jackson was one of her idols, and her personality as well as her talent got her through.

After 11,000 contestants who audition in Dallas, came the last one of the first day, Dave Pittman. He is a turrets sufferer, and said that he once considered it a curse, but now it is a blessing. He has learned a lot about himself from having this disease. He said the disease does not bother him while he is singing, thank God. His voice was strong, and very good. Simon said that he thinks people will like him, and Simon liked him as well, and everyone else agreed. Neil Patrick Harris told him that he was brave, and amazing. They all voted him through.

For Day Two of The Roundup In Dallas, “Joe Jonas” of The Jonas Brothers was the guest judge. Todd McCall was the first audition of the day. He wrote his own song, about what he needed to do to get to Hollywood. He had a tremendous voice, a cute song, and portrayed confidence. He got all four judges to give him a “yes.” Dawntonya made it through next, and was followed by quite a few Golden Tickets.

Megan Wright, from Richardson, Texas came along with her little brother. She sang “To Make You Feel My Love.” It was…in a word…beautiful. Kara was “wowed” and told her that she had a great voice. Simon also liked her. Randy loved her, and all four judges said, “Yes.”

Vanessa Johnson, dressed in hot pink and stripes, came along next, and sang “At Last.” The audition was, umm, not very good, at all. The judges tried very hard not to laugh. Simon told her that if anyone ever asked him what his nightmares were made of, he would refer them to her audition. She had a great attitude, though, and laughed about Simon’s comment. “I might be your worst nightmare, but at least you are dreaming about me!”

The last contestant of the Dallas Auditions, was 16 year old Christine Spears. Diagnosed with leukemia, very young,  she went into remission at eight year old. She sang “All I Could Do Was Cry” and did an excellent job. Joe Jonas told her she was very confident and had a beautiful voice. Simon loved her as well, and everyone voted for her to go to Hollywood.

Next week on American Idol, the auditions will be in Denver Colorado. This should be good! As always, thank you for reading, and I hope you enjoyed it. I appreciate all of you who Tweet this link and Buzz Up on Yahoo! Feel free to comment as well!
