chris Los Angeles, Feb 18 (THAINDIAN NEWS) American Idol contestant Chris Golightly, who was earlier named as a semi finalist of the show, has now been disqualified, and has been replaced by Tim Urban. “It has been determined that Chris Golightly is ineligible to continue in the competition,” the network said in a press statement. “American Idol contestant Tim Urban has replaced Golightly as part of the Top 24.” Other details about the details into his disqualification, were not released to the media.

However other reports suggest that the reason behind his disqualification, is that he was under a contract with a boy band. Chris Golightly claims that the contract expired in 2009, whereas his previous manager says that Chris Golightly is still bound by the contract. It seems that he was disqualified from the show, on this basis. And the unfortunate part is that, after he was thrown out of the show, then the contract release letter turned up, but it was already too late for him.

Besides the replacement of Chris, the other male semifinalists who were announced on Wednesday were Andrew Garcia, 24, Moreno Valley, Calif.; Tyler Grady, 20, Nazareth, Pa.; Alex Lambert, 19, North Richland Hills, Texas; Joe Munoz, 20, Huntington Park, Calif.; John Park, 21, Evanston, Ill.; and Jermaine Sellers, 27, Joliet, Ill. Amongst the female contestants, 24 year old Janell Wheeler also became a semifinalist on the show.
