American Idol AtlantaJan 17, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The 9th season of American Idol reached Atlanta for the preliminary auditions in its second episode and the guest judge for the day was Ms Mary J. Blige. The guest judge was aptly found in the singer given the fact that she herself is a veteran musician and seems to know what she is talking about. Above all this, she went along very well with the other judges including Simon Cowell.

The start of any episode-as a rule-sees some of the worst possible singers who provide nothing more than some entertainment value and this episode was no different. The frost contestant to come was not just a bad singer but he brought his wow creation along (which as a rule is not allowed). Next to come were a couple of not-so-hot-girls-in-very-hot-neon pats. Even after some disappointing performances the episode was not a total shamble and some good singers were discovered.

The Atlanta auditions, held in Georgia, saw Simon Cowell get in a disagreement (read: insult) with a contestant, Harden, whom he referred to as an ‘insect singing country Western. This remark was brought on by her choice of attire that included a guitar costume. The best part of the show came with the old man who sang ‘pants On the ground’. Gen. Larry Platt had everyone in an uproar and the netizens haven’t stopped looking for him ever since the day his performance was aired on TV. His act has become so famous, that the official Indian Idol webpage has even put up his video as one of their Top Features. As Simon Cowell had predicted on the show, the song ‘looking stupid with your pants on the ground’ did become quite famous.
