June 6, (THAINDIAN NEWS) FOX has been fined $25,000 by the FCC for filing to provide adequate information in response to the queries made by the organization’s Enforcement Bureau regarding the Jan 3 episode of the popular animated series ‘American Dad’ that is aired every Sunday.
The Enforcement Bureau of the committee got down to investigating the situation, and asked the channel to answer the queries pertaining to the investigation. However, the committee reported that the network has been outstandingly negligent in answering the questions. The committee had asked FOX to ask for information from all the affiliated stations that also might have broadcast the particular episode.
However, FOX responded to the accusations by saying that they did not at all understand what the hullabaloo was about, stressing that they had not failed to answer comprehensively all the questions raised by the FCC.
The spokespersons for the network went on to say that they had inquired all the networks under them about the episode, and had responded to the queries of the bureau. The entire problem started when the episode of American Dad showed a man masturbating a horse. Well, they did not show it on screen actually, but the words used implied the same.
However, the airing of the episode went on to enrage the Parents’ Television Council, which received over 100,000 complaints regarding the episode, and claimed that the content was inappropriate keeping in mind the fact that it was aired on a Sunday, when the audience was likely to include children.
The watchdog group went on to launch a campaign, asking the members to file complaints with the network citing inappropriate content for a family channel.
