New York, Apr 13, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Things seem to be really going well for America Ferrera as the much acclaimed actress is likely to take up a new role of executive producer. According to recent reports, the actress, who is best known to play the lead role in “Ugly Betty,” is going to operate as the executive producer of “Pedro & Maria”, an interactive telenovela that is being developed in collaboration with MTV and a number of other internet platforms.

America Ferrera’s latest venture to work behind the camera came to light on Monday when an announcement was made by MTV and the multimedia studio, Electus. It has been revealed that the forthcoming show would be a modern day take on ‘Romeo & Juliet’ although intrinsic details regarding the cast as well as the premiere dates of the series has not been divulged as of now. However, one of the interesting details of the show would be the fact that the audiences would get the opportunity to vote in order to decide the plot of the show.

Despite the fact that the America Ferrera starer “Ugly Betty’ is gearing up to reach its conclusion with the season finale likely to air on April 14, the actress seems to be inclined to give a new direction to her career with her association with “Pedro & Maria”. America Ferrera had gained immense popularity with her true to life portrayal of Betty Suarez in the hit ABC comedy drama series. Apart from the television series, the actress is also known to have been part of a number of movies such as “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants”, “Real Women Have Curves,” among others.
