Alma Awards 2009: Teens Selena Gomez And David Archuleta Rule The Night

almaOn Friday night, it was a time to celebrate the achievements of all those people who have made outstanding contribution in the field of in entertainment, among the Latinos. The Alma Awards 2009 was held on Thursday night, September 17, at the Royce Auditorium in Los Angles. This year the show was hosted by the gorgeous Eva Longoria Parker and George Lopez. The show was aired live on September 18 from 8 p.m. onwards on the ABC networks.

It was a thoroughly glamorous affair, as prominent names in the field of entertainment walked down the red carpet and in to the venue, one after the other, much to the excitement for the viewers. This year’s ALMA boasted of performances by such big names as Shakira, Nelly Furtado, Sean Kingston, David Archuleta and Pitbull. Celebrities like Adam Rodriguez, Benjamin Bratt, Dania Ramirez and Michelle Rodriguez came up to the stage as presenters to give awards the awards. With such stellar performances, it was surely a night to remember for the viewers, in quite sometime to come in the recent days.

The evening saw immensely popular television actress Selena Gomez of the Disney Franchise “Wizards Of Waverly Place” receive the honors for the Best Actress in television for essaying the character of the teenage wizard Alex Russo. David Archuleta walked away from the event with the coveted Male Music Rising star. One of the most anticipated moment of the night was when the actress Salma Hayek received the Anthony Quinn Award for Industry Excellenace, due to her outstanding contribution to the entertainment industry, over the years. Oscar de la Hoya was awarded with the Special Achievement in Sports Television.
