All Women Jury For 12th MIAMI Festival

September 4, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): The much waited Mumbai Academy of Moving Images (MAMI) film festival is going to start from October 21 and will conclude on October 28, 2010. This festival is an initiative by Reliance Big Picture.

The festival will screen a number of critically-acclaimed movies and the uniqueness of the festival is its all-women jury. The panelist of the jury includes Samira Makhmalbaf, Suhasini Maniratnam, Yoon Jeong-Hee and Tanya Seghatchian, who is the head of the film fund at the UK Film Council.

Seghatchian has bagged the BAFTA award for producing the movie “My Summer of Love’ in 2004. At that time, Tanya was just 17 years old. In 2000, her second movie “Black Board’ received the jury prize in Cannes.

Yoon Jeong-Hee is a South Korian actress, who has been a part of over 250 movies and has bagged more than 20 awards for her work.

Suhasini Mani Ratnam is an Indian actress, who also directs and produces films. She is the wife of noted filmmaker Mani Rathnam, with whom she owns a production company Madras Talkies.

Jane Campion is a Hollywood based filmmaker and producer, who got nominated for Academy Award. At the 1986 Cannes festival, she bagged the Golden Palm award. She won the Oscar award for her movie “The Piano’ in 1993.
