Newark, Feb 20 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Alicia Keys gave an emotional performance during the funeral of Whitney Houston. Paying tribute to the 48-year-old singer, Keys said Houston was an “angel.”

The singer was dressed in dark dress as she addressed other mourners at the Newark Church where Houston grew up. Paying tribute to the late singer, Keys said Houston was “beautiful human being, [who would] call you for no reason at all but to say, ‘Hi.’”

She further added that, “She reached back to so many people; she reached back to me, to Monica and Brandy … all these beautiful young artists, and just made us feel strong and capable and loved. So she’s an angel to us, and has been an angel to us.”

Houston’s death shocked the entertainment world. Host of celebrities thronged to Newark to pay tribute to the singer who is officially recognized as the most honored female star of all time.

Former husband, Bobby Brown, left the event early in tears on Saturday citing harassment as the reason for his decision. The singer is partially blamed for the death of Houston following long-held belief that he introduced the her to drugs.

The official cause of death is still unknown after investigators said they will only reveal the details after the toxicology results are ready. It is expected in some weeks.
