July 11, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The man who was accused of being responsible for the hit-and-run case that resulted in the death of former “American Idol” contestant Alexis Cohen has been indicted by a grand jury of Ocean County. The 25 year old musical aspirant who was just 25 years old age during her untimely demise, was killed in an accident on July 25, 2009 after she sustained severe injuries to her head as well as torso.
24-year-old Daniel J. Bank was indicted by the Ocean County jury on four counts in relation to the death of Alexis Cohen as he was behind the wheels of the vehicle that struck the girl during the accident which ultimately claimed her life. At the same time, the authorities have also stated that they were already in the look-out for the New Jersey man in another hit-and-run case when the accident took place in Seaside Heights in the month of July last year. He was taken into custody by the cops the very next day after the accident and was charged with drunken driving. However, Daniel J. Bark has now been charged with aggravated manslaughter, death by auto, eluding police as well as knowingly leaving the crime scene which ultimately resulted in the 25-year-old’s demise.
Alexis Cohen never went past the audition round in “American Idol.” However, she became a popular face when she took part in the seventh and eight season of the reality singing competition and left with an angry rant after she was rejected by the judges. In 2007, when she was eliminated in the first round itself, she let loose an angry outburst that went viral on the web.
