Alex Kirst, Drummer of ‘Iggy Pop’ Dead From Hit & Run
January 21st, 2011 - 2:49 am ICT by Angela Kaye MasonJan 20 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Alex Kirst was an American musician who played with both ‘The Nymphs’ and ‘Iggy Pop’ was killed outside of Cathedral City, California in a hit and run “accident” which occurred in the desert. The forty seven year old was hit and killed on the night of the 13th of January.
According to police, it was either a Chevy Tahoe or a GMC Yukon which struck the drummer. The car in question would have damage to the passenger side, on the hood, headlight grill, and bumper. It is difficult to judge whether this was an accident, since Sgt Paul Herrera stated, “We have no evidence of any braking. The driver made no attempt to stop and fled the scene”.
Kirst was found when a passing motorist mistook him for a drunk who had passed out, and called the police.
