Alex Da Silva Aug 19 (IBNS) Salsa instructor Alex Da Silva has been arrested by Los Angeles police Tuesday at his North Hollywood home on charges of sexually assaulting four women.

Da Silva (41) choreographed dance routines for the popular Fox series “So You Think You Can Dance.

The alleged assaults took place between August 2002 and March 2009 and include “four counts of forcible rape, two counts of assault with intent to commit rape and two counts of sexual penetration by a foreign object.”

The victims were either dancers or aspiring dancers who met Da Silva at his dance classes. Da Silva is being held on $6.2 million bail.

Da Silva was previously accused of sexually assaulting three women beginning in 2002, but no charges were filed at the time. When a fourth woman, a student of his dance class, came forward on March 28 and reported that she was invited to his home and raped there, detectives reopened the case when interviews of the previous accusers — all unknown to each other — matched the latest student’s assertion.

The Brazilian-born Da Silva teaches his unique LA style salsa at the Edge Performing Arts Center Hollywood, the Mayan club in downtown Los Angeles, at Mama Juana’s in Studio City and various other clubs in the Los Angeles area.
