Los Angeles, Nov 19 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Alesha Dixon broke down and wept when she recalled a domestic abuse incident when she as young. The singer recollected that her mother’s partner who was not married to her constantly abused her.

The 312-year-old former Mis-Teeq star was speaking on a new TV show, “Don’t Hit My Mum”. The show is intended to create awareness of domestic violence and discourage it. She revealed on the show that as a child, she witnessed some of the abuses her mother suffered at the hands of the man she called her lover.

She recollected in particular an incident where her mother did run out of their house with tears. She revealed that all through the abuse, she kept telling herself that “Run for your life”. She said the incident stayed in her memory because it was her “worse” memory. She later added that the incident was the “image I’ve always carried”.

She said the incident changed her life for the worse because it left her with emotional scar and made her nervous and fearful as a child. She revealed that she currently have no memory of harmony and fun times during her childhood years.

The new show will air on Monday.
