Reportedly, Canadian icon Alanis Morisette has secretly married rapper Souleye in a quiet and intimate wedding.

The news broke yesterday and Souleye became a hot search item in no time. The duo who reportedly met in October 2009 got married within 7 months of courtship on 22nd May 2010, a week before Alanis Morisette’s 36th birthday.

The wedding took place in their Los Angeles apartment with a handful of family members and close friends of the couple.

The news was confirmed by the representative off Alanis Morisette and later confirmed by Alanis Morisette herself on Twitter. The ‘Hand In My Pocket’ singer said that the couple is extremely excited and happy. She added that one day after meeting him she came home and noted down in a diary that she has met the man she will marry.

Later she showed the diary entry to Souleye who reportedly was also thinking the same thing. This is the first marriage for both the stars. Alanis Morisette was previously dating actor Ryan Reynolds who is now married to Scarlett Johansson. She was also involved briefly with ‘Full House’ star Dave Coulier.

The romantic history of Souleye, whose real name is Mario Treadway, is not available to the media. He is a fast paced freestyle rapper who is a regular in jam sessions and has performed with other bands.

He is not a big star yet but continues to build a strong fan base gradually. His unique style is reflected in his songs ‘Night Owl’ and ‘Spin The Bottle’. It will be interesting to see how the artists from completely different genres influence each other.

Alanis Morisette appeared recently in the American Idol Finale but did not reveal the news.
