At the music launch of the film Patiala House the 43 year old actor said he is no longer concerned about how much the movie will be making, but instead wants to produce and do films that he can feel good about. Kumar goes on to say that he has immensely enjoyed working in the film and hope that with this film he can offer something new to his audience.
As a producer of Hari Om Productions, the Khiladi of Bollywood goes to the state that so far the films he has produced, which comes up to about eight films have fared well in the box-office. Neither the distributors nor he had to suffer any kind of losses, so he is happy being a producer, but Akshay also mentions in the same breath that he cannot produce a film like Udaan or Tere Bin Laden.
It is not only Akshay who is incapable of producing a film that caters to a niche audience but actors like Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan too has their hands tied as producers according to Akki. The reason being the market expects a certain amount of return from a film that has any of these three stars and a film like Udaan collects Rs. 8 crore, which is good but a Dabaang of Salman’s collect Rs. 140 crore.
On an average SRK, Sallu and Akki’s films covers Rs. 70 crore, but the actor believes that over four or five more years people will get interested to see films like Udaan and Tere Bin Laden and as producers they can do it. Patiala House will see Akshay opposite Anuskha Sharma is being directed by Nikhil Advani and will hit the theatres on Feb 11.
