London, April 11 (IANS) Singer Christina Aguilera’s “Beautiful” has been voted as the most empowering pop song of the last decade for the gay community.
Aguilera’s 2003 hit song beat gay icon Lady Gaga to top the poll conducted by Stonewall charity to find most powerful message for the lesbian, gay and bisexual community.
“I’m delighted to have been voted the most inspirational pop act by Stonewall’s supporters - my gay fan base is so important to me and this continues my special relationship with them,” dailystar.co.uk quoted Aguilera as saying.
Boyzone’s “Better” came in second place, while Gaga’s equality anthem “Born This Way” was third.
American indie rock band The Gossip’s “Standing In The Way Of Control” and Katy Perry’s “Firework” wrapped up the top five.
